Training the leaders of tomorrow
PAMA

Human resources development plays a prominent role at PT Pamapersada Nusantara. With an active workforce of around 6,000 that includes operators, mechanics, engineers and administrators, competence is the most valued consideration. “Every year we recruit and develop over one thousand people. We drive our people to be innovative and creative and we set the target for our competitors,” says Sudiarso Prasetio.

PAMA has developed compulsory basic training programmes for all employees, designed to ensure, in addition to technical skills, quality of attitude, logical thinking, health and safety awareness and leadership. On top of this, workers at PAMA are given specialist training, focusing not only on the positions they hold but on their potential for career advancement within the company. These individual development plans allow employees to maximize their strengths and keep up to date with technological advances both within and outside the company.

Recruitment of adequately skilled workers is also tackled by the company, in a way that benefits the local community. In cooperation with various educational institutions, PAMA sponsors future employees by giving university and vocational college graduates the chance to work with the firm under fixed-term contracts. Selected students are given special training programmes during their final year of study so that they are ready to fit in with the company’s requirements. PAMA also provides traineeships and work placement schemes for high school students.
